PhotoStory

These are the photos I have chosen to use for my photo story, dinner with my sister and her roommate. All have not yet been edited.

This set of photos is meant to be viewed together as a portrait of my sister, one of my favorite subjects in all my art, she is a beautiful, tough girl who I am lucky enough to go to school with.
I decided to title her portrait not with her name but just Spots. Spots are often seen as imperfections but hers are so descriptive and lovely. They tell a little story about her adventures and time in the sun.

So this first photo is of my boyfriend looking slightly distressed that there is a bird on his head. The only alteration I made to  this one was to crop it.
This next photo is cropped and the levels have been altered slightly.
This last photo is actually a composite of the two photos below. I blurred the background a bit and part of my wrist to try to give the illusion of depth of field and a continuity between the two parts.

Compostion

Here is a link to a site I found particularly helpful with regards to composition.
 BASIC PHOTOGRAPHIC TECHNIQUES

It had great diagrams as well as photographs to demonstrate their points. It has a lot of information and is organized well.

This is my centered image. It is pretty boring.

This is the image I composed using the rule of thirds. I think its much more interesting. The contrast is better as well.

So this week I was stuck inside with the flu or something like it so all my photos I took more or less from bed. The two color schemes I chose to photograph were analogous  and complementary.
